By Ogiemwonyi Osazuwa
Orhionmwon: For the Labour Party,LP, in Orhionmwon Local Government, it does not only rain, it pours. Apart from its poor showing in the last State House of Assembly election and Local Government election, LP has been losing members to the ruling party in Edo State, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Orhionmwon Local Government through the tireless efforts of Orhionmwon PDP leaders.
The party that prides itself as Eluu Pee 76, which once vowed to rule Nigeria and dominate the National Assembly and State House of Assemblies, is fast-becoming the shadow of its old self in Edo State as predicted by political pundits!
Today, LP further recorded huge losses as its home-based mobilizers and executive members dumped party in Ward 7 for PDP.
Receiving the Labour Party defectors, Orhionmwon Local Government Council Boss, Hon Newman Ugiagbe, thanked them for coming back to base. In his words,”You are welcome back home because you left PDP before to join Labour Party and today you have re-joined PDP. So, you will enjoy equal rights like every other member of PDP. Thank God you have apex leader that listens and treats everyone right. Whatever it will takes for PDP to win Ward 7, count me in. I am ready to support with appointment, materials and cash.”
Speaking further, Hon Newman Ugiagbe noted that it was Governor Godwin Obaseki that made LP known and popular in Edo State.
Responding, the decampees, Comrade Odion Ehigiator, Mc Freedom Ogieva and Mrs Dorca Igun who are the backbone of LP in Ward 7 confessed to Hon Newman Ugiagbe that they are now PDP members, including their thousands of followers across all the units in the Ward.
