Edo 2024: State NNPP Vice Chairman, Odiase, Dumps Party, Throws Weight Behind Asue-Ogie, PDP

The Edo State Vice Chairman of New Nigeria Peoples Party ( NNPP), Hon. Fidelis Odiase, has dumped the party and thrown his weight behind the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate Dr Asue Ighodalo and his running mate Osarodion Ogie Esq in the September 21 governorship election.
He subsequently led chieftains and hundreds of the members of the NNPP from Edo Central Senatorial District to the PDP in support of the gubernatorial candidate Dr Asue Ighodalo.
Explaining why they switched allegiance from NNPP to the PDP during the PDP campaign flag off in Ubiaja on 29 of August 2024, Hon. Odiase told newsmen that they found the PDP to be an accommodating platform for any serious politician.
He said, “The members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party you are seeing here today , indeed the cream of the party in Edo Central senatorial district.
“We took time to consult widely with our friends, associates and supporters before we concluded that following our departure from the NNPP who don’t believe in equity, fairness and justice, our next destination should be the PDP, if we as a people and people must advance forward.
“The quality of PDP governorship candidate in the person of Dr. Asue Ighodalo who has the competence, capacity, intellectual capacity, empathy and a rich manifesto to take Edo state to a greater prosperity is top notch.
“To us, the PDP is more accommodating. We are even more convinced that there is a sense of urgency to address the political, economic and social issues that confront our country in order to bring greater good to the greater number of Edo people and Nigeria in general, especially the poor, the underprivileged, the women, the youth and other vulnerable groups in our society. And we believe that Asue Ighodalo, the PDP governorship candidate and his running mate Osarodion Ogie will further take greater prosperity.
“We have come to the PDP with our structure in the senatorial district to canvas, Mobilise, vote and defend our votes until victory is announced for the PDP. I want to assure you that more will join the PDP in Edo South and Edo North Senatorial Districts respectively.” Odiase stated
Among the defectors are; Edo Central Senatorial Woman Leader, State Auditor, State Legal Advisor, Deputy Youth Leader, The 5 LGA Chairmen from Edo Central, Secretaries, Ward Chairmen and the party Members.
