As part of ensuring that there is continuity in true governance, the Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP ), has constituted a 363 Campaign Council members for the September 21, 2024 governorship election.
The campaign structure has a management Council committee, Advisory Council committee and the campaign council. The women wing to be headed by the Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki and Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo, and the youth wing to be led by the Deputy National Youth Leader, Timothy Osadolor.
The state chairman of the party Dr Tony Aziegbemi appreciated the Governor and all leaders present. He said “the essence is to galvanise support and drive the campaign to the grassroot level. I know you all will deliver because you were carefully selected”.
His excellency Mr Godwin Enogheghase Obaseki thanked all the leaders for their unwavering commitment and support towards the success of his administration and enjoined the leaders to work towards the success of the coming election. “The structure of this campaign council is based on ward structure and all organs of the party are well captured. Every ward leader is added to the structure and this will make it easier to reach out to the grassroot”, he asserted. He went further “The campaign will be based on our achievements. About the future and not the past and to give hope to Edo people. We have the best candidate, best leader, best programmes.
In his words, the Deputy Governor of Edo state, Mr Godwins Omobayo Marvelous appreciated all leaders of the party for the privilege given to him as the number 2 citizen of the state. “I will work hard to ensure that we deliver our candidates. Our strength cuts across different parties and they will surely work for us. We have already collapsed the obedient movement in Edo State into the PDP”.
The Director General of the Campaign council, Hon Mathew iduoriyekemwen, appreciates the Governor for the opportunity given to him to serve in this capacity. “It is an opportunity to reawaken the PDP fighting spirit in Edo. Edo state has always felt better under PDP than any other administration. We can see the infrastructures and other developments strides being put in place by Governor Obaseki. So we already have what to campaign with”.
Edo South PDP Senatorial Leader Pa Dickson Etose Imasogie appreciated everyone present. “Asue is a unifier and I have endorsed him from day one. “Edo South has the strength to work for Ai, permit me to give myself the father of PDP in Edo South. I will work for you day and night for you to win”, he asserted.
Former Senator of Edo Central, Senator Clifford Odia appreciated all leaders in Edo North and Edo South for allowing us Esan to stand . “It is an Honour and we will not disappoint you”, he maintained.
Edo State First Lady, Mrs Betsy Obaseki applauded the effort of all leaders in the party. “PDP is the best and most organized political party right from when the primary was conducted. I want to assure you all here that everything is ordained by God with the right candidates, we are going to win by the grace of God”.
