Edo 2024: Parties Endorsed Okpebholo For APC Ticket
Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP) in Edo State has endorsed the aspiration of Senator Monday Okpbeholo to pick the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The party is screening the aspirants to prune the numbers of aspirants, to a manageable size.
The coalition also condemned the alleged move by Governor Godwin Obaseki to foist his preferred aspirant on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), saying the politics of “godfatherism” is long dead and buried in Edo.
The state chairman of CRPP, Dr Samson Isibor, stated this at the end of its quarterly meeting held in Benin City, the state capital.
He said Senator Okpebholo aka ‘Akpakomiza’ remains the most suited among the aspirants for the number one seat of the state having demonstrated strong leadership quality and noted that if elected his governorship will change the narrative for the better.
Isibor said, “Senator Okpebholo who is an aspirant of the APC in forthcoming governorship election is an astute personality , very resourceful , easily accessible and a great philanthropist whose desire always is to empower the less privileged in the society, we are appealing to APC leadership to elect Senator Okpebholo to fly the governorship flag of the APC as the man who can defeat Obaseki’s political godson, Asue Ighodalo.”
“We condemn the outgoing governor for using all available means to impose Asue Ighodalo on his party, the PDP. Edo people have rejected godfatherism in Edo State, never again are we going to allow any person to impose unknown technocrat on us again, once beaten, twice shy. Edo people are lamenting the situation we found ourselves in and we believe Asue will not perform.
“Okpebholo is a young vibrant man, untainted and forthright personality and there should be no cutting corners to circumvent the wishes of the people, enough of recycling over saturated politicians whose aim is to siphon our state patrimony,” he said.
