Edo 2024: Hon. Sergius Ogun Tipped To Pick LP Guber Ticket
Like a golden fish that has no hiding place, the defection of the beautiful bride of Edo politics and two time federal legislator, Hon. (Barr. ) Deacon Sergius Ose Ogun to the Labour Party has lent incadescent wings to the flight of the party to Osadebe Avenue in 2024.
Unarguably the most credible aspirant among the crowd of aspirants across party lines jostling to succeed the incumbent governor next year, LP members and executives are more than happy to have Hon. Sergius Ogun in their fold. In fact many had started rooting for him long before he officially joined the party.
If political reports from the three senatorial districts of the heartbeat state are anything to go by, there are strong indications that the Ugboha-born oil and gas giant cum philanthropist might clinch Labour Party’s governorship ticket in February. Several factors are working in favour of the good man. A few would suffice here.
Firstly, he is believed by many to possess the requisite degree of intellect, competence and experience required to pilot Edo to the next phase of development. Secondly, he is a silent performer and apostle of good governance who is allergic to failure. As a member of the Federal House of Representatives, he sponsored over a 100 motions/bills ( the highest by any HOR member ) and executed 99 constituency projects. These feats endeared him to millions of Nigerians within and outside his immediate constituency. Thus, flowing from the above, he is seen as the only aspirant with the capacity and temerity to help LP garner the needed majority votes at the polls and defend the same. He would not be a push over.
As the primaries draw closer , Labour Party’s search for an ideal governorship candidate seems to be over with the timely entry of Hon. Sergius Ogun. It is hoped that delegates would bury all parochial sentiments and give Hon. Sergius Ogun the nod to fly the party’s guber flag in Edo in 2024.
