Edo 2024: Group Knocks Ihonvbere For Showing Up At Campaign Rally 15 Months After Re-election

By Chris Ikhazobor

A social political group on the auspices of Owan Progressive Initiative (OPI) has knocked Julius Ihonvbere, the House of Representatives member representing Owan Federal Constituency for his sudden manifestation at a campaign rally in Eme-Ora yesterday, soliciting votes for his party’s Governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpevhbolo after 15 months in office.

Clutching bundles of naira notes as hand-outs to the people at the campaign turf by one of his aides, Frank David, Ihonvbere re-echos APC’s boastful federal might chant to oppress and suppress votes of other political parties in the coming election.

It is alleged that the demagogue who rose on the wings of activism and populism has deep-seated anger for his constituent who roundly rejected him for Governorship and Senate elections in the past for playing politics of opportunism, fickleness and narrow mindedness.

“We the people of Owan Federal Constituency are utterly dismayed and disappointed by Julius Ihonvbere’s shocking admission that he has not visited the 22 wards in both Owan East and West constituency for a thanks-you-tour since his inauguration on May 29, 2023. This glaring neglect is a betrayal of the trust we reposed in him, and a clear indication that he has abandoned his people.

“His absence has been deafening, and his lack of engagement with the very people who elected him is unacceptable. It’s appalling that he has only deemed it fit to visit his constituency, 15 months later, solely for the purpose of campaigning for his party’s governorship candidate.

“We demand an explanation for this egregious oversight and a clear plan of action to address the pressing needs of our constituency. Owan Federal Constituency deserves better than a docile and acrimonious representative who only shows up when seeking votes.

“We expect a higher level of accountability, transparency, and commitment from our elected officials. Your actions have fallen woefully short of these expectations”, OPI President General, Mr Ojo Udugbai poked Ihonvbere.
