Edo 2024: Group decries unhealthy delay of Edo North Results

The Edo North Political Vanguard (ENPV) has decried the unnecessary delay of the results of the governorship election which took place on Saturday across the six local government areas of the senatorial district, describing the delay as capable of undermining the integrity of the electoral process.
The pro-democracy group noted in a statement on Saturday evening signed by its national Coordinator, Comrade Ajayi Alao, demanded that all outstanding results from the senatorial district be immediately released without further delay since there was no known logistic problem that could warrant the delay.
The statement read in part: “We followed keenly the electoral process across the Edo North Senatorial District and our members who voted in various parts of the district reported that there were no noticeable delays in any polling unit.
“We are, therefore, surprised at how long the results have taken to be announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). We call on the relevant officers of INEC responsible for this function to do that now to forestall possible damage to the integrity of the electoral process,” the group said.
