Edo 2024: Edo South political leaders meets, advances strategies for victory ahead September poll
…Begins healing process, urges aggrieved leaders from district to join the Ighodalo-Ogie movement

Ahead the Edo 2024 governorship election of September, leading political players of Edo South Senatorial District is rallying increased support for the Ighodalo-Ogie ticket, urging perceived aggrieved PDP members of Edo South extraction to sheath their swords and throw their weight behind the now very popular movement.
Since the last months, the Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie combo has gained significant traction, a movement that has developed at a rapid pace in the hearts and minds of a vast majority of Edo people at home and in the diaspora.
The meeting of political leaders from Edo South held on Friday at Okada House, Iyaro, Benin City, the leaders who spoke very passionately of the qualities of the governorship and deputy governorship candidates, noted that for the first time since 1999, the PDP is throwing up two of its best for the highest offices in the land; the leaders who spoke in unison noted that the Party’s victory is sure owing to the quality of candidates it has produced.
The well-attended meeting had leaders from across the seven local government areas of Edo South, viz: Ovia North East, Ovia South West, Egor, Oredo, Ikpoba-Okha, Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode physically present, speaking with one voice ahead September.
Speaking at the meeting, the PDP deputy governorship candidate, Osarodion Ogie, Esq., thanked the leaders for their insightful contributions during the meeting; he also commended Gov. Godwin Obaseki for approving the meeting.
“The good thing is that the healing process of the party has started; it takes time to get certain things right, no body should feel discouraged, and by the grace of God, we will get to our destination”, Ogie noted.
Pa Oni Edigin, sued for the collective participation of all, noting that only through collective participation can significant electoral victory be achieved; he called on all and sundry to join hands to push the all-important project, urging that no one must be left behind.
The PDP Chairman, Ikpoba-Okha LGA, Mr. Friday Aiwumuagbonrie, added that there is need to continue to protect the interest of Party members as that is one of the vehicles on which increased support can be achieved; he noted that interests will always play out in politics and that the ability to manage it to members’ benefit is key to electoral victory.
Senator Ehigie Uzamere, advanced the need to continue to support the good works of Gov. Godwin Obaseki; Uzamere stated that the legacies of the Obaseki-led administration must be sustained and built on, and that only Ighodalo-Ogie ticket can achieve that; he called for increased unity and the need for leaders to provide quality leadership in their respective localities.
Mrs. Lucy Omagbon hailed the sterling attributes of the PDP deputy governorship candidate, Osarodion Ogie, noting that he is one to identify with in any cause that borders on the development of Edo State.
The Edo South political leaders who hammered on the need to go into the election as a united front noted that only through unity and collective participation can the PDP get the desired result and that the need to continue to advance sincerity of purpose cannot be over-emphasized.
Attendees at the meeting took turns to speak, emphasizing the need for strong unity as we approach the all-important poll.
Present at the meeting were leaders drawn from the seven local government areas in Edo South Senatorial District.
Pa Dickson Etose, Pa Oni Edigin, Sen. Ehigie Uzamere, the PDP deputy governorship candidate, Osarodion Ogie, Esq., Rev. Egharevba a.k.a Ewewe, Chief Osaro Idah, the Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Charity Aiguobarueghian, Orhionmwon Local Government Chairman, Deacon Newman Ugiagbe, that of Egor, Eghe Ogbenmudia, and Mrs. Lucy Omagbon.
Hon. Bright Iyamu, Hon. Nicholas Asonsere, Hon. Irobosa Natasha Osawaru, Hon. Uyi Omosigho, Hon. Andrew Uzamere, were also at the meeting, they all spoke in favour of the Party, its candidates and the State in general.
Others are the PDP National Deputy Youth Leader, Tim Osa-Osadolor, Prof. Dennis Agbonlahor, Chief Odion Olaye, Hon. Osahon Ahunwan, Chief Douglas Usoh, Chief of Staff to Gov. Godwin Obaseki, Dr. Osaigbovo Iyoha.
Pst. Blessed Ighiwiyisi, Hon. Roland Asoro, Rev. Martins Evbuomwan, Lady Uwa Osunbor and several other political players of Edo South extraction spoke in defense of the district and by extension Edo State.
The meeting which is continuous and aims to kickstart the healing process of the Party in Edo South ahead the September poll also had other members of the Edo youth body, women and other political players from the district in attendance.
Edo South has said it will continue to interact, with the aim to get all of its players on board, achieve significant victory and ensure that the yearnings and aspirations of the district are met in the incoming administration.
