Edo 2024: APC Cementing its own Defeat Hurriedly
By Osagie Imasogie
The Edo State All Progressive Congress, APC, is hurriedly cementing its own demise before the gubernatorial election slated for September 2024.
The party started in a its famous wayward path by selecting one of the most incompetent candidate in the history of political primaries in Nigeria since 1999 the country came back to democracy. Since the obvious criminal selection rather election, the party has been galloping through feats and falls.
The Edo State citizens saw through the selection as the first red flag as one of the billions reasons for not supporting the party for the gubernatorial election. True to their prophecy, the gubernatorial candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has not failed to alley the fears of members of the opposition party in the state. He has grossly been malfunctioning like an old television from one public function to another to the extent the party’s stakeholders have called him to order to stop speaking in public functions as to stop the gross embarrasment. He has since obeyed the order by numerous of his godfathers. In the Nigeria Bar Association law week recently held in Benin where he was supposed to deliver a paper, he was represented by a party member to avoid the obvious. The party stakeholders do not wish to have another museum for zoo contradiction or the position of Akoko-Edo from Esan. They have to be careful to avoid any of such public embarrasments going forward.
Meanwhile, parts of Europe was thrown into jubilation and convivial atmosphere by the visitation of Dr Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate. His tour was to engage the diasporan communities in parts of Europe as to be able to discuss his vision and mission for a greater Edo State under his watch. His message resonated with the people because they were assured of an enabling ground for investment and opportunities when elected in September.
Back home, in Ighodalo’s absence, members of the APC have been decamping to join PDP in droves to key in with the AIO2 Movement, the movement that has been the most trending issue in the entire state.
