In a bid to support the venerable women and the spirit of the Easter celebration, yesterday 18th of April 2025, the member representing Edo Central Senatorial District on the board of Edo State Oil And Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC), Hon. Linda Aliyu Omonzele, doled out bags of high quality rice, other food items and cash gifts to widows, aged and others across the 10 wards in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State.
The program tagged “EASTER WIDOWS FOOD AND CASH EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM” was initiated by Hon. Linda Aliyu Omonzele to support widows in the of Easter celebration.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Linda Omonzele said the initiative was her way of giving back to members of the society and to show love to the widows during this Easter period.
She noted that the items bags of rice, other food stuffs and cash gifts are being distributed without political bias adding that every widow regardless of political affiliations deserves to be remembered and supported.
She also used the opportunity to announced the flag-off of another women’s program tagged “Angel’s Women”, and call on the women to key into the initiative.
Hon. Linda Omonzele further urged the women to continue to support the Gov. Monday Okpebholo’s led administration describing the governor as their own. She reemphasize that a win for him is a win for Edo Central Senatorial District in particular and Edo State in general.
On his part, the acting chairman of Esan Central Local Government Council, Hon. Kelvin Iyere commended the member representing Edo Central Senatorial District in Edo State Oil And Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC), Hon. Linda Aliyu Omonzele’s efforts describing it as a genuine show of of compassion. He further said they are happy and she has come home to uplift her people saying that’s the kind of leadership that is needed.
He also made a cash donation to support the initiative and ease their financial burdens.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke at the event cannot hide their joy described Hon. Linda Omonzele as a selfless and passionate woman who is concerned about the well-being of the widows. They appreciated her kind gesture and prayed for God’s protection and more political elevation for her.
