Manchester City , United Kingdom.
The indigenous people of Edo State living abroad are integral to the new Edo that will emerge after November 2024, with Dr. Asue Ighodalo as the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 21 election.
Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen Director General of the Ighodalo/Ogie/PDP Council, emphasized this while speaking to Truth Live News in Manchester on the sidelines during a Campaign Town Hall meeting with Edolites in the United Kingdom, stating that diaspora participation is crucial for Edo State’s development.
Former majority leader of the Edo State House of Assembly highlighted the significance of the diaspora in Nigeria’s and Edo State’s progress. He noted that party leaders are touring Europe and North Africa to engage with people, outline their plans, and seek support for realizing their vision of a renewed Edo State under Dr. Asue Ighodalo’s leadership.
He stated, “Edo people around the world deeply care about their state, which is why we’re here to seek their support, votes, and cooperation to make our dream of a new Edo State under Dr. Asue Ighodalo a reality.” Describing Dr. Ighodalo as the ideal candidate for the position, he emphasized that having him contest for governorship is a blessing for the state, given his potential as a presidential candidate.
He appealed to Edolites in the UK and Europe to return home to vote or encourage their families and friends in the state to vote for Asue Ighodalo.”
