A community development organization under the aegis of Kugbe Local Government Visioneers has implored the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo to create Local Council Development Authorities (LCDAs) in Edo State to bridge the manifest development gaps resulting from the constitutional 18 local government areas in Edo State.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Ewu, the converners of the group cited the fact that LCDAs under the state government will fast-track massive human and infrastructural development in the state inline with the Senator Monday Okpebholo’s development blueprint.
According to them, “Edo state should copy from the Lagos success stories of the positive use of LCDAs to promote massive grassroot infrastructural development and human capacity building at the local level”.
The group stressed the need for the development oriented Governor of Edo State to reason in this line of action to manifestly bridge the lucana created by the status quo structure of the state under the federal constitutional arrangements. “Its the duty of the state leadership to creatively use it’s inherent powers to do more for the local people who make up the majority of the populace in terms of population and contribution to the state and national treasury”.
Kugbe LGA Visioneers is a group of like-minded Ewu, Jagbe, Ukhun and Idoa indigenes working towards the realization of the Kugbe LGA or LCDA for a more life changing and realistic development for the grassroot people whose present political location does not favour them in terms of government presence and dividends of democracy.
