Christian Football Association seeks collaboration with Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, visits Council boss
The Christian Football Association has paid a courtesy call on the Osayande-led Ikpoba-Okha Local Government.
Aimed at improving the sports sector of the local government area, the association says it will be willing to collaborate with the local government to grow the sporting potentials of the locality.
In a visit to the Executive Chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Dr. Eric Osayande, last Wednesday, CFA commended the Chairman’s commitment to sports development, noting that the just-concluded Principal’s Cup Competition, wherein Western Boys High School clinched the gold medal on Thursday, is a “remarkable step to grow and develop grassroot football.”
“We are very impressed with your administration’s commitment to develop Ikpoba-Okha’s sports sector; particularly football; your various initiatives are very laudable, the Principal’s Cup Competition is a great initiative to discover and nurture footballing talents at the grassroot; we seek to work with your administration to sustain the gains and ensure that local football competitions of such are instituted across the locality.”
Chairman of the Association, Kenneth Imanah, added that, the association is willing to build a solid and productive partnership with the local government.
“We have seen your passion, determination and commitment, we are convinced that you mean well for the sports sector, following your annual football competition, which no doubt, has raised young stars in schools in the LGA; as promoters of the round leather game, we are poised to work with your administration to see it grow.”
Osayande hailed the group for its commitment to grassroot football development; noting that the Principal’s Cup Competition, being the 3rd edition is one of his administration’s tools to engage young people, get them off nefarious activities and development their character.
“We run a youth-friendly administration, we have developed several ways, one of which is the Principal’s Cup, aimed at developing youths’ mindset, enhancing their psychomotor skills and building in them the right attitude”, Osayande said.
“Young people must also stay off drugs, they must not be found wanting in vices harmful to their education and career; we are determined to see them grow, contributing extensively to community development”, Osayande added.
“It will be worthwhile to strike a solid partnership and put our football and sports atop the ladder”, he noted.
Highpoint of the meeting was the presentation of the Christian Football Association’s jersey to the Council Chairman.
The Christian Football Association was one of the groups present at last Thursday’s final of the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Principal’s Cup Competition 2023, which held at the School of Health Technology, Dumez Road, Benin City, with Western Boys High School crowned champions.
The Association has expressed readiness to build a solid partnership with Council, aimed at developing the sports sector of the Ikpoba-Okha local government area, with special focus in football.
