Call For CVR Cancellation, Edo PDP Chides APC
…..says APC wants to disenfranchise over 500,000 eligible voters
The Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has described the call by the Edo State All Progressives Congress (APC) , for the cancellation of the on going Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as unfortunate. The PDP says it is surprising that the APC intends to disenfranchise over 500,000 eligible voters just to save their candidate from an overwhelming embarrassing defeat in the coming September 21st governorship election.
Reacting to the statement credited to the APC State Publicity Secretary, the Edo State PDP Chairman, Dr Tony Aziegbemi noted; ” The call for the cancellation of the CVR by the Edo State APC is unfortunate. We are however not too surprise because the APC is aware that majority of the people are angry with the party because of the untold hardships it has brought to Nigerians. The people cannot stand and open their eyes to vote the APC in Edo State. So they have decided not to allow fresh registration because this will only widen the margin of defeat that awaits them.
“I want to urge Edo people who are eligible to vote but are yet to register, to go out and perform their civic responsibilities of registering as voters. It is only as a registered voter that you can participate in determining who governs the state. This is what the AP C wants to deny you. Punish them by going out to register and using your PVC to reject their candidate on September, 21 2024.
“The antic of the APC handlers of crying wolf while they are eating the chickens will fail them as it did in 2020. We are aware of the clandestine moves by the APC to compromise INEC during the elections which seems to be threatened by the CVR. APC should encourage their supporters (people who want to take the state backwards), to go out and register and stop the theatrics.”
