Blackout in Esan North East: House Leader, Hon Paul Uhomesili advocates for reconnection of Uzea community to the National Grid.
During the ongoing stakeholders engagement with officials of Benin Electric Distribution Company (BEDC) at the Uromi townhall, Hon Uhomesili Paul expressed his displeasure to the officials of BEDC to the blackout facing the good people of Uromi and Uzea. The situation which the House Leader described as unacceptable, he called for an improvement to power supply as no reasonable development can be measured without electricity supply which is the bedrock of driving the economy.
With the increment in purchasing a litre of fuel and diesel, the House Leader was concerned about the stress service providers in the local government are going through which will have a ripple effect on the end users.
He passionately appealed to the management of BEDC to kindly reconnect Uzea back to National grid as the community have been cut off for over a decade and still counting.
In attendance at the BEDC stakeholders meeting are members drawn from different sectors, the House Leader and interested participants. It was an avenue to address some of the issues affecting BEDC and their mode of operations.
