AZIEGBEMI WARNS AGAINST ISSUING UNAUTHORIZED STATEMENTS ON BEHALF OF EDO PDP
…advises intending aspirants to beware of scammers
The Edo State chairman of The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),has warned against issuing unauthorized statements to the public on behalf of the party. He noted that as the state chairman, all publications in the name of Edo State PDP must be sanctioned by him before going to press.
The chairman was reacting to a recent publication by one Ogie Vasco calling on intending governorship aspirants in the party to declare interest. Dr Aziegbemi said in a statement issued in Benin today; “It is rather unfortunate that some people have taken indiscipline to a new height within the party. How can someone who has not been properly appointed as the State Publicity Secretary,go ahead to make such a dubious and unauthorized statement on behalf of the party?
‘ The constitution of our party is clear as to who can summon a meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC). I can tell you that as the State Chairman, I have not conveyed any meeting of the SWC to discuss such. The SWC will meet on Tuesday 3rd October, 2023, by 12noon at our party Secretariat , No 59 Airport road, Benin, to discuss issues bothering on the coming 2024 governorship elections in the state. So where did the author get his mandate from?

“ Let me assure our teeming party supporters, that the Edo State PDP, under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki, is committed to ensuring that the best candidate that will fly the flag of the party during the governorship elections, emerges through a free, fair and credible process.
‘We State unequivocally, that The Governor, HIs Excellency Godwin Obaseki, who is the Leader of the Party in the state,has been a visionary, caring, fair and just leader in whom the Edo State PDP has absolute trust
“Going forward, the SWC under my leadership, will not tolerate such blazen indiscipline as the relevant provisions of the party’s Constitution 2017 (as amended ), will be activated”
