Adams Oshiomole’s Stance: From Praise To Criticism

By Rita Ebiuwa

The ongoing court cases involving Asue Ighodalo, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have become a focal point of political discourse. Ighodalo has been at the center of a contentious battle involving allegations and misinformation propagated by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Despite being affirmed as the legitimate PDP candidate by the Court of Appeal, APC figures, including notable members like Adams Oshiomhole, continue to undermine Ighodalo’s candidacy with misleading claims.

Asue Ighodalo has undergone a rigorous legal process to validate his position as the PDP’s candidate. The Court of Appeal, a higher judicial authority, has unequivocally declared Ighodalo as the authentic PDP candidate. This ruling is a critical affirmation of Ighodalo’s legitimacy and stands as a legal resolution to the disputes surrounding his candidacy.

However, members of the APC, particularly those who face a challenging electoral landscape, have resorted to spreading misinformation to cast doubt on Ighodalo’s candidacy. Their strategy seems to be rooted in the belief that discrediting Ighodalo is their only viable path to success. Notably, Adams Oshiomhole, a prominent APC figure, has been particularly vocal in his criticisms of Ighodalo.

Adams Oshiomhole’s stance on Asue Ighodalo has been notably inconsistent. At various times, Oshiomhole has praised Ighodalo, acknowledging his competence and political acumen. Yet, as the election approaches and Oshiomhole’s candidate, Monday Okpebholo, appears to struggle in the campaign, the narrative has shifted. Oshiomhole and other APC members have begun to criticize Ighodalo, using rhetoric that undermines his standing despite the court’s clear judgment.

This flip-flop in Oshiomhole’s position is indicative of a broader pattern of opportunistic politics, where praise and criticism are leveraged based on immediate political advantages rather than consistent principles.

The APC’s strategy seems to be rooted in the belief that Monday Okpebholo, their candidate, cannot match Ighodalo’s political stature and appeal. Faced with this reality, APC figures are reportedly hoping for Ighodalo’s disqualification as a last resort to level the playing field. Their campaign has been marked by efforts to cast doubt on Ighodalo’s eligibility, despite legal confirmations.

Asue Ighodalo remains the legitimate PDP candidate, as affirmed by the Court of Appeal. Despite attempts by the APC to spread misinformation and challenge his candidacy, Ighodalo’s position remains solid. His competence and the clear legal validation of his candidacy position him as a strong contender in the upcoming election.

The public should be aware of the tactics being employed to manipulate perceptions and should rely on verified legal outcomes and factual information. As the election date of September 22nd approaches, it is expected that Asue Ighodalo will maintain his position as the PDP candidate and is likely to emerge victorious, given his standing and the clear legal backing.

The public should disregard any misleading claims to the contrary.
