LOKOJA: Troops Foil Bandits’ Movement, Arrest Logistics Supplier in Kogi

Troops of the Nigerian Army have foiled the movement of suspected bandits in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State, arresting a logistics supplier believed to be aiding criminal elements operating within the state.

The operation, which took place on Saturday, January 3, 2026, was carried out following credible intelligence on the planned movement of bandits through strategic routes within Lokoja and surrounding communities. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, troops mounted checkpoints and conducted targeted patrols, successfully disrupting the suspected movement.
During the operation, a suspect was apprehended while conveying food items, fuel, and other logistics allegedly meant for bandits hiding in nearby forested areas. Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested individual had been providing logistical support to the criminal group over a period of time.


Items recovered from the suspect include bags of foodstuffs, fuel, mobile phones, and cash, all believed to be intended for sustaining bandit activities. The suspect is currently in military custody and undergoing interrogation to uncover further details about the bandits’ network and collaborators.
The Nigerian Army has reassured residents of Kogi State of its commitment to sustaining peace and security, while urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
