Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has said the principle of “one man, one vote” will enable the state to deliver 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Governor Okpebholo stated this in Benin City during a one-million-youth march organised by the City Boy Movement in support of his administration and the re-election bid of President Tinubu.

The governor attributed some of the ongoing developments in Edo State to increased revenues arising from reforms of the Federal Government, noting that the state’s monthly wage bill had risen above N7.8 billion while infrastructure and other development projects were being executed simultaneously.

He cited ongoing flyover projects, investments in primary healthcare and the renovation of schools as examples of developments taking place under his administration. According to him, more than 108 primary healthcare centres have been built across the state, while over 87 primary and secondary schools have also been renovated.

Governor Okpebholo further disclosed that government subvention to higher institutions had increased from N41 million to more than N700 million, linking the capacity to fund these programmes to the economic reforms of the Tinubu administration, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy.

He also referenced President Tinubu’s tenure as Governor of Lagos State, describing the reforms introduced during that period as having contributed to improvements in the administration of the state.

The governor appealed to Edo residents to sustain support for the Tinubu administration, while also criticising unnamed political opponents over their positions on fuel subsidy and the management of public resources.

The youth march featured expressions of support for the Okpebholo administration and President Tinubu, with a youth representative commending the governor over what he described as improvements in security and their potential impact on investor confidence.

The event was also presented as part of efforts to mobilise support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement signed on Friday, October 2, 2026, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele, said the governor had consistently expressed his ambition for Edo State to deliver 2.5 million votes for President Tinubu in 2027.
