Peace and tradition have spoken in Ewu Kingdom. Kingmakers and the people have unanimously reaffirmed HRH Abdul Rasaki Ojiefo III as the rightful, duly crowned, and only Onojie of Ewu Kingdom. They also called on Prince Jafaru Ojiefo to stop actions capable of disturbing the peace and unity of the ancient kingdom.
The declaration was made during an enlarged meeting of Ewu people and Kingmakers held at the Ewu Town Hall in Eguare Ewu. The gathering was attended by kingmakers, elders, and leaders of major socio-cultural groups in the kingdom.
Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Uzoya Okogbosun, Secretary of Ewu Development Association Worldwide and Professor of History at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Chief Jerome Idiata, Chairman of Elukhide Social Cultural Association, and Prince Sufuyanu Ojiefo made it clear that HRH Abdul Rasaki Ojiefo III did not appoint himself to the throne. They said he did not fight for it through wealth or political connection. Rather, he was raised, presented, and crowned by the kingmakers in strict accordance with Ewu customs and traditions.
The Kingmakers emphasized that the Ewu Royal throne is not acquired by money, influence, or self-proclamation. It is inherited by birth and conferred under the exclusive supervision of the kingmakers, who are the custodians of the kingdom’s tradition. According to them, any attempt to bypass this process undermines the very foundation of Ewu history and identity.
HRH Abdul Rasaki Ojiefo III, the Kingmakers noted, ascended the throne through the traditional process. His leadership, they said, positions Ewu Kingdom to be guided by wisdom, knowledge, and respect for tradition in this generation.
The meeting resolved that the kingdom cannot afford division at a time when unity is needed for development. Ewu people, both at home and in the diaspora, are calling for peace. The Kingmakers warned that anyone attempting to create confusion or parallel claims to the throne will be resisting the collective will of the people and the authority of tradition.
They urged Prince Jafaru Ojiefo to sheathe his sword, respect the decision of the kingmakers, and join hands with the people to build a united Ewu Kingdom under the leadership of Onojie Abdul Rasaki Ojiefo III.
*Ewu has spoken. Tradition has ruled. HRH Abdul Rasaki Ojiefo III is the Onojie. Unity is the path forward.*
