MEDIA TEAM DISOWNS ALLEGED PETITION, DISTANCES EHIZUA FROM DOCUMENT CIRCULATING IN HIS NAME

Abuja, Nigeria — May 11, 2026

The Media Team of Hon. Matthias Osobase Ehizua, an aspirant for the Esan West/Esan Central/Igueben Federal Constituency seat, has formally disowned and repudiated a purported petition allegedly circulated in his name, describing it as unauthorised and misleading.

In an official disclaimer issued on Monday, the campaign organisation stated that its attention had been drawn to a document dated 8th May 2026, which was purportedly addressed to the Executive Governor of Edo State, the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, the State Executive Committee/Working Committee, and the Okpebholo Constituency leadership.

The Media Team categorically affirmed that Hon. Ehizua had no involvement whatsoever in the drafting, authorisation, or circulation of the said petition. It further stressed that his name, image, and identity were allegedly used without his consent or approval.

According to the statement, at the time the controversial document was said to have originated, Hon. Ehizua was engaged in official political duties, including his screening exercise at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, thereby making his alleged association with the petition untenable.

The campaign organisation urged party stakeholders, political actors, members of the public, and the media to disregard the document in its entirety, insisting that it does not reflect the views, political position, or ideological stance of Hon. Ehizua or his campaign structure.

Reiterating its commitment to internal party cohesion and responsible political engagement, the Media Team noted that Hon. Ehizua remains focused on issue-based politics anchored on integrity, unity, and democratic values. It added that all official communications from the aspirant will continue to be released strictly through authorised channels.

The statement was signed by the Media Team of the Hon. Matthias Osobase Ehizua Campaign Organization.
