Hon. Sunday Fada Eigbiremonlen Commends Governor Monday Okpebholo’s Decentralised Infrastructure Push, Advocates Legislative Oversight and Asset Protection

Hon. Sunday Fada Eigbiremonlen, Member representing Esan Central Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, has thrown his weight behind Governor Monday Okpebholo over the recent distribution of 54 construction machines to local government councils, describing the move as a practical step toward deepening grassroots development.

In a legislative briefing made available to journalists, the lawmaker characterized the initiative as a bold decentralisation of infrastructure capacity, noting that empowering councils with operational equipment will significantly reduce bureaucratic delays associated with project execution at the local level.

Hon. Eigbiremonlen stated that the Assembly views the intervention as a strategic policy direction aimed at strengthening service delivery within communities. According to him, when local councils are adequately equipped to undertake road maintenance, environmental works, and public facility upgrades, citizens begin to experience governance in tangible terms.

He further explained that beyond the ceremonial handover, what truly matters is structured implementation. As a legislator, he emphasized the importance of legislative oversight to ensure that the equipment is deployed transparently, efficiently, and strictly for public benefit. He assured constituents that the House of Assembly will continue to monitor compliance, maintenance standards, and operational accountability across the councils.

The Esan Central representative also stressed the need for institutionalised maintenance frameworks. He urged council leadership to adopt preventive servicing models, engage qualified technical personnel, and allocate dedicated budget lines for equipment upkeep to avoid premature breakdown or misuse.

According to Hon. Eigbiremonlen, sustainable governance is not defined by acquisition alone but by the longevity and productivity of public assets. He noted that responsible management of the machines would translate into improved rural accessibility, enhanced local commerce, and increased public confidence in government interventions.

Reaffirming his commitment to effective representation, the lawmaker pledged continued collaboration between the legislative and executive arms to ensure that the infrastructure drive yields measurable impact across Edo State. He concluded that with disciplined management and sustained oversight, the newly deployed equipment will mark a significant chapter in the state’s pursuit of inclusive and accountable development.
