Philanthropist Godwin Okoduwa, popularly known as Club Wave, has once again demonstrated his enduring passion for human capital development with the sponsorship of external examination enrolments for students of Ujabhole Grammar School.
In a significant educational intervention, Mr. Okoduwa funded the enrolment of 82 students for the National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations and 15 students for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examinations, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 97. The gesture is widely regarded as a strategic effort to eliminate financial constraints that often hinder students from sitting for critical secondary school examinations.
The development was made public by Hon. Henshaw Oligbi, who liaises between the students and the philanthropist. He described the intervention as a clear demonstration of collective responsibility by successful sons of Uwessan toward securing the academic future of younger generations.
According to him, the support should serve as strong motivation for every Uwessan child to take his or her studies seriously, emphasizing that with such encouragement from community leaders, no student has any justification to abandon education.
While an ongoing undergraduate and master’s scholarship programme for Uwessan students is being championed by another distinguished son of the land, Mr. Okoduwa’s assumption of the NECO and WAEC enrolment responsibilities further complements broader community-driven educational advancement efforts. Together, these independent initiatives reflect a shared commitment among Uwessan leaders to invest meaningfully in the future of their people.
Beyond financial sponsorship, Mr. Okoduwa used the opportunity to counsel students and youths to stay away from cultism, drug abuse, crime, and other social vices capable of jeopardising their future and damaging the reputation of the community. He stressed that discipline, focus, and moral uprightness remain indispensable ingredients for sustainable success.
Reaffirming his humanitarian philosophy, he noted that the happiness and progress of ordinary people remain his greatest source of fulfillment, pledging to continue supporting initiatives that uplift lives and strengthen the foundations of society.
Education stakeholders have described the intervention as timely, impactful, and deeply encouraging, particularly in an era when examination fees pose considerable challenges for many families. By underwriting the cost of NECO and WAEC enrolments, Mr. Okoduwa has not only expanded access to certification opportunities but has also renewed hope for dozens of aspiring scholars in Uwessan.
Through sustained commitment to youth empowerment and academic support, he continues to set a commendable standard for purposeful community leadership.
