LAAAF Trustees Paid Tribute to Late Dame Rebecca Aikhomu at Lagos Service of Songs

Members of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Late Augustus Akhabue Aikhomu Foundation (LAAAF) were in attendance at the Service of Songs and Tribute Night held in honour of Late Dame Rebecca Aikhomu, wife of Nigeria’s former Vice President, Late Augustus Akhabue Aikhomu.

The solemn ceremony took place on Wednesday, January 2, 2026, at the Nigerian Navy Dockyard, Victoria Island, Lagos, bringing together family members, associates, friends, and well-wishers to celebrate the life, values, and enduring legacy of the late matriarch.

Present at the event were key members of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, led by the BoT Chairman, Chief Dr. Leemon Ikpea, alongside the Secretary, ESV Tony Okonigene, and the Provost, Chief Mrs. Victoria Ekhomu, whose presence reflected the Foundation’s deep respect for the Aikhomu family and its commitment to preserving the ideals of its founder.

Other notable dignitaries and Board members in attendance, seated from left to right, included ESV Tony Okonigene (Secretary); Air Commodore Victor Aikhomu (rtd.); Professor Reuben Eifediyi, CMD, Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH) and Vice Chairman of the Board; Barrister Matthew Egbadon (Legal Adviser); Chief Ezekiel Ainabe (Patron); and Mr. Mike Osime (Auditor).

The Service of Songs was marked by hymns, prayers, and heartfelt tributes, as speakers reflected on the life of Late Dame Rebecca Aikhomu—remembered for her dignity, compassion, resilience, and unwavering support for her family and community. The atmosphere was solemn yet celebratory, offering a fitting tribute to a life well lived and a legacy fondly cherished.
