Benin City, January 12, 2026 — The Edo State Government has announced the postponement of the resumption of all public and private schools in the Edo Central Senatorial District for the second term of the 2025/2026 academic session.

The announcement was made on Monday by the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, through an official public notice issued from the Ministry of Education in Benin City.

“This is to enable us to address some requirements to improve the welfare of our children,” the statement read.
While no specific date was provided for the new resumption, the Ministry assured parents, guardians, school administrators, and proprietors that a fresh date would be communicated to the public in due course.
