The Senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District in the red chambers, Senator Joseph Ikpea, has expressed grave concern with the increased in cases of kidnappings especially in Ekpoma. He has called on the security agencies to change their approach to combating the crime. He noted that the current situation is unacceptable.

Senator Ikpea made the remarks yesterday while addressing the Enigie of Esanland in the palace of the Onogie of Ewatto in reaction to the protests that took place in Ekpoma. He sympathized with the victims and families who have been subjected to the trauma of being kidnapped and in some cases killed. He appealed for calm and charged the Enigie to deplore every lawful means to bring the cases of kidnappings to a halt.

The Senator lamented that despitethe resources the Edo State government under Senator Monday Okpebholo has injected into provision of security gadgets and vehicles in support of security agencies, it is unfortunate that the menace is yet to be check mated. He promised to in collaboration with other legislators from Edo state, to increase pressure on and support on the security agencies to tackle the crime and bring perpetrators and their collaborators to justice.
