Hon. Ephraim Aluobhosele, Chairman of the Governing Council of Edo State College of Education, Igueben, has commended the Edo State Governor and the management of the institution for their shared commitment to strengthening teacher education and advancing sustainable educational development across the state.

Hon. Aluobhosele made this known when he was interacting with journalists on the progress of the institution within the framework of the government’s SHINE Agenda. He emphasized that meaningful educational reform thrives on collaboration, noting that “we are all partners in progress.” He described the current direction of the Edo College of Education, Igueben, as a reflection of visionary leadership, institutional accountability, and people-centered governance.
According to him, the Governor’s consistent prioritization of education—particularly teacher training—demonstrates a clear understanding that quality education remains the backbone of socio-economic growth and grassroots development. He stressed that teacher education is not only foundational to learning outcomes but also central to building ethical leadership, innovation, and national competitiveness.
Hon. Aluobhosele further praised the Governing Council, management, staff, and students of the College for aligning institutional policies with global best practices while remaining responsive to local realities. He noted that recent reforms and administrative stability within the institution are positioning it as a hub for professional excellence, pedagogical innovation, and community engagement.
“The SHINE Agenda is more than a policy document; it is a collective responsibility,” he stated. “Government provides direction, institutions implement with integrity, and communities sustain progress. When these forces work together, education becomes a powerful tool for transformation.”
He reaffirmed the Governing Council’s commitment to transparency, capacity building, and infrastructural development, assuring stakeholders that the Council will continue to support initiatives that enhance academic standards and staff development while expanding access to quality teacher education.
Education analysts view this collaboration as a strategic step toward repositioning colleges of education as drivers of grassroots development, particularly in preparing teachers who are globally competent yet locally relevant.
As Edo State continues its education reform journey under the SHINE Agenda, stakeholders remain optimistic that sustained partnership between government, institutions, and communities will deliver lasting impact—strengthening not only teacher education but the future of learning in the state.
