The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, on Wednesday led a high-powered delegation of government officials and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on a condolence visit to the Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, following the passing of his mother, late Mrs. Esther Imaguomwanruo Idahosa.
The delegation included former Edo State Governor and Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, APC State Chairman Jarrett Tenebe, Deputy Chairman Sylvester Aigboboh, Party Secretary Lawrence Okah, Secretary to the State Government Musa Ikhilor, commissioners, and other senior government functionaries and party stakeholders.
Speaking during the visit, Governor Okpebholo expressed gratitude to God for the life lived by the deceased, describing her as a fulfilled matriarch whose legacy is reflected in the accomplishments of her children. He noted that death remains an inevitable reality of human existence and urged the family to draw strength from her impactful life.
“Your mother lived a good and fulfilled life. Raising successful children such as yourselves is a testament to the values she upheld. While her passing leaves a painful void, we pray that God grants the family the strength to bear the loss,” the governor stated.
He further assured the Deputy Governor and his family of the continued prayers and support of the Edo State Government and the people during this period of mourning.
In his remarks, Senator Adams Oshiomhole described the late Mrs. Idahosa as not only a mother to her immediate family but a maternal figure to the wider political family and the state at large. He encouraged the bereaved family to remain steadfast in faith and take solace in the impactful life she lived.
Responding on behalf of the family, Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa expressed deep appreciation to the governor and his entourage for the prompt visit, noting that their presence within 24 hours of the loss demonstrated genuine compassion and solidarity.
He acknowledged the Governor’s consistent support and guidance, both in governance and personal moments, emphasizing the significance of such leadership during challenging times. Idahosa added that the family would, in due course, announce burial arrangements.
The condolence visit underscores the strong sense of unity and solidarity within the Edo State leadership and the APC family.
