A frontline Edo State House of Assembly hopeful for Esan South East Constituency, Dr. Ernest Iyere Ahamioje, has applauded the proactive leadership of Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for attracting strategic investments capable of accelerating industrial growth and economic prosperity across the state.
Dr. Ahamioje made the commendation while reacting to the groundbreaking of a 100-megawatt power plant and a 300 metric tonnes per day Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility at the Taihu Industrial Park located in Ologbo Community, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.
The projects, which are being developed by Taihu Industry Park Ologbo Company Limited, a subsidiary of the China Clean Energy Technology Company (CCETC) Group, are expected to significantly strengthen the state’s energy capacity, stimulate industrial activities and attract further investments into the Edo economy.
According to the Esan South East legislative hopeful, the successful attraction of such a large-scale energy project reflects the governor’s strategic vision and unwavering commitment to creating a business-friendly environment that encourages both local and international investors to see Edo State as a viable destination for development.
Dr. Ahamioje noted that sustainable economic growth requires deliberate policies, institutional support and legislative collaboration, stressing that the governor’s industrialisation agenda deserves the full backing of progressive lawmakers who are committed to advancing policies that will consolidate such achievements.
He stated that the development is not only a significant milestone for Edo State but also a strong signal that the state is steadily positioning itself as a major industrial and energy hub capable of driving economic transformation within the region.
“The decision of reputable international investors to establish a 100MW power plant and LNG facility in Edo State speaks volumes about the confidence they have in the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo. It is a reflection of sound governance, purposeful leadership and a well-articulated economic vision,” Ahamioje said.
He emphasized that reliable energy infrastructure remains a critical foundation for industrial expansion, employment generation and long-term economic stability, noting that the project will have far-reaching benefits for businesses, communities and the broader economic ecosystem of Edo State.
The House of Assembly hopeful further explained that if elected to represent the people of Esan South East Constituency, he would champion legislative initiatives that will strengthen policies supporting industrial development, energy expansion and investment protection within the state.
Dr. Ahamioje stressed that a responsive and development-driven legislature plays a vital role in sustaining executive initiatives through effective laws, oversight and policy frameworks that encourage continuous growth.
“As someone who believes strongly in institutional progress, I will ensure that the Edo State House of Assembly provides the necessary legislative backing that will consolidate the governor’s development agenda, particularly in areas that promote industrialisation, infrastructure expansion and economic empowerment,” he added.
He further noted that although the project is located in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, the economic impact will extend beyond the immediate host community, creating opportunities that will benefit other parts of the state including communities within Edo Central Senatorial District.
Dr. Ahamioje therefore called on citizens and political stakeholders to continue supporting initiatives that attract meaningful investments capable of improving livelihoods and strengthening the economic future of Edo State.
He concluded by describing Governor Okpebholo’s leadership as purposeful, forward-looking and development-oriented, adding that the governor’s ability to attract strategic projects demonstrates a clear commitment to building a stronger and more prosperous Edo State for present and future generations.
