Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has carried out an on-the-spot inspection of four major road construction projects currently underway in Edo Central Senatorial District, as part of efforts to ensure quality delivery and timely completion of critical infrastructure.
The projects inspected include the Uromi–Agbor Road, Ukpenu Road, Ujoelen Road, and Illeh Road, all considered strategic corridors expected to significantly improve transportation and stimulate economic activities across communities in the district.
Accompanied by top government officials and contractors handling the projects, Governor Okpebholo carefully assessed the pace and quality of work at the various sites. During the inspection, he charged the contractors to strictly adhere to approved engineering standards while maintaining the agreed project timelines.
The governor explained that the inspection exercise forms part of his administration’s proactive monitoring strategy designed to ensure that ongoing projects across the state meet the expected specifications and deliver tangible benefits to the people.
According to him, strengthening road infrastructure remains a key pillar of his government’s development agenda, noting that improved road networks will enhance connectivity, facilitate commerce, and improve the overall quality of life for residents.
Contractors overseeing the projects provided progress reports during the visit and assured the governor that construction work was progressing steadily and would be completed within the scheduled timeframe.
The ongoing road projects form part of the broader infrastructure renewal programme of the Edo State Government aimed at improving transportation systems and easing the movement of people, goods, and services within Edo Central and adjoining communities.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Patrick Akhere Ebojele, who reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to delivering impactful infrastructure across the state.
