Residents and indigenes of Udomi–Uwessan communities in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State have commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for what they described as significant infrastructural and socio-economic development recorded in the area within less than two years of his administration.
The commendation followed the governor’s two-day working visit to communities in the locality where he personally inspected several ongoing projects and assessed the pace of development across the axis.
During the visit, residents expressed appreciation for the renewed focus on infrastructure and social investment in the area, noting that the administration has delivered visible and impactful projects that had long been desired by the people.
Speaking with journalists in Udomi community, youth representative Christopher Ogbe described Governor Okpebholo’s leadership as transformative, stating that residents have begun to experience tangible dividends of democracy through ongoing road construction and other development initiatives.
According to him, the governor’s commitment to grassroots development has rekindled hope among residents who had long yearned for greater government attention.
“We are very grateful to Governor Okpebholo. He is truly a blessing to our people. In less than two years, we have begun to see the kind of development we have hoped for over the years. Roads are being constructed and critical projects are ongoing. Our community is proud of the governor’s commitment to development,” Ogbe said.
Another resident, Christiana Oyemere, also praised the governor’s leadership style, describing him as a compassionate and people-oriented leader whose policies continue to positively impact communities across Edo State. She also offered prayers for his continued success in office.
Addressing residents during the inspection tour, Governor Okpebholo explained that the visit formed part of a strategic two-day working tour designed to personally assess the progress of ongoing projects and ensure that contractors deliver quality work in line with approved specifications.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering sustainable infrastructure and improving the living conditions of Edo citizens.
“I am here on a two-day working visit to inspect projects and assess the level of work being carried out. From what I have seen so far, I am satisfied with the progress. We will continue to ensure that the people of Edo State enjoy the true dividends of democracy,” the governor stated.
Governor Okpebholo further acknowledged the supportive leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that federal policies and improved fiscal conditions have created an enabling environment for states to embark on meaningful development projects.
According to the governor, the synergy between federal and state governments has strengthened the capacity of Edo State to pursue critical infrastructure and economic development programmes.
Projects inspected during the visit include the ongoing construction of a medical school, a hospital facility, and major road networks aimed at boosting transportation, healthcare access, and economic activities in the area.
The governor also visited the reconstruction site of the Ekpoma Market, which was destroyed by fire during protests that rocked the community in January. He had earlier assured traders and residents that the market would be rebuilt to modern standards in order to restore commercial activities and provide a more conducive environment for business operations.
In a statement made available to journalists by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele, the working visit was described as a reflection of Governor Okpebholo’s hands-on leadership approach and unwavering commitment to grassroots development across Edo State.
Dr. Ebojele emphasized that the administration remains focused on delivering impactful projects that will stimulate economic growth, improve social services, and uplift the living standards of Edo people.
The inspection tour attracted community leaders, residents, and government officials who accompanied the governor as he interacted with members of the community and assessed the progress of key developmental projects across the Udomi–Uwessan axis.
