Irrua, Edo State — March 5, 2026
The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has asserted that the over 2.5 million votes expected from Edo residents in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming elections are “already in a fixed deposit,” underscoring the unwavering political commitment of the state’s electorate.
Governor Okpebholo made the declaration while receiving a delegation of supporters at his country residence in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area. The group presented an assortment of branded visibility and publicity materials, including shirts, wrappers, and other campaign items, aimed at mobilising grassroots support for the President’s re-election.
Commending the initiative, the governor described the gesture as a reflection of growing public confidence in the policies and programmes of the Federal Government. “We commend our brother here who brought these donations to support our President because he is happy with what the President is doing for Edo people. For this reason, they are already making contributions,” he said, acknowledging the materials presented to the state chapter of the ruling party.
Governor Okpebholo emphasised that such voluntary contributions reinforce the political resolve of Edo residents ahead of the elections. “That means our 2.5 million votes are already in a fixed deposit. It is not negotiable. We are happy to receive these items and grateful. The President will also be informed about this show of support,” he stated.
Engineer Uwadiale Oziegbe, the initiator of the donation project, told journalists that the gesture was inspired by the developmental achievements of Governor Okpebholo. He indicated that additional campaign materials would be provided in the coming months to strengthen mobilisation efforts.
“This is a strategic show of support for the 2027 presidential election through our amiable governor. We have seen the massive development taking place in our state, so the best we can do is to support the governor,” Engineer Oziegbe said.
The donated materials, including T-shirts, face caps, and vests, were all customised with the party’s logo, symbolising grassroots enthusiasm and loyalty to the President’s re-election bid.
