The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Monday Okpebholo for second terms in office, describing their leadership as impactful and aligned with the aspirations of Nigerians and Edo residents.
The endorsement was announced on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, during the Edo APC State Congress held at the Sir Victor Uwaifo Hub in Benin City. Delegates drawn from the party’s 192 wards across the state unanimously returned the 36-member state executive committee, led by Jarrett Tenebe, for another four-year tenure through a voice affirmation.
The congress, widely regarded as orderly and transparent, reflected what party stakeholders described as deepening unity and internal cohesion within the Edo APC.
In his acceptance speech, Tenebe characterized the unanimous affirmation as both an honour and a renewed mandate to serve. He disclosed that the re-elected executive had formally endorsed President Tinubu and Governor Okpebholo for second terms, citing their strong performance records and commitment to governance reforms, economic revitalization, and people-centered policies.
“This unanimous voice affirmation is a call to duty,” Tenebe said. “We are prepared to discharge our responsibility diligently, ensure that the APC continues to prioritize the interests of Edo people, and support the governor in sustaining his developmental strides.”
He further noted that the tenure of the re-elected executive coincides with the ongoing implementation of Governor Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda, a strategic policy framework aimed at repositioning Edo State for sustainable development, infrastructural renewal, and inclusive growth. He reaffirmed the party’s full commitment to supporting the successful realization of the agenda’s objectives.
Chairman of the National Congress Committee, Hon. Kabiru Ajana, who supervised the exercise, confirmed that the committee was mandated to fill 36 executive positions and that all candidates emerged unopposed following a screening process that recorded no appeals. He described the outcome as a testament to consensus-building and unity within the Edo APC.
Ajana commended Governor Okpebholo for fostering stability and cooperation within the party and urged other state chapters to emulate the example demonstrated in Edo.
The congress was attended by key stakeholders, including Minister for Regional Development Abubakar Momoh, Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, Secretary to the Edo State Government Barr. Musa Ikhilor, and other senior party leaders and members.
In a statement signed by Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo, the Edo State Government reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive governance, institutional strengthening, and policies designed to enhance the welfare and prosperity of Edo residents. The statement emphasized that the endorsements reflect a consolidated party structure poised to sustain progress and stability in the years ahead.
