Celebration activities for the 2026 Ihuen Festival are actively ongoing across Ekpoma, Ogwa, and Urohi Kingdoms, drawing widespread participation from indigenes, cultural groups, and dignitaries in a colourful display of tradition and unity.
Senator Joseph Igiagbe Ikpea, representing Edo Central Senatorial District, extended his warm felicitations to the revered royal fathers and the entire people of the three kingdoms, describing the festival as a profound expression of Esan heritage and communal solidarity.
The Senator paid tribute to His Royal Majesty, Anthony Ehizojie Abumere II, Onojie of Ekpoma Kingdom; His Royal Majesty, Victor Ehizogie II, Onojie of Ogwa Kingdom; and His Royal Majesty, Dominic Otoikine, Onojie of Urohi Kingdom, commending their unwavering commitment to the preservation of tradition and the promotion of peace within their domains.
He noted that the Ihuen Festival remains a sacred period of thanksgiving, reflection, and cultural renewal, reinforcing the shared values that bind the people together across generations. According to him, cultural festivals of this magnitude are vital instruments for strengthening identity, fostering unity, and promoting sustainable community development.
Across the three kingdoms, traditional rites, royal processions, symbolic ceremonies, music, and dance performances are being held in line with age-long customs. The atmosphere has remained peaceful and orderly, reflecting the deep respect accorded to ancestral heritage and traditional authority.
