Ekpoma, Edo State — Lucky Eseigbe, Edo State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development and frontline House of Representatives hopeful, has announced plans to illuminate communities across Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben Federal Constituency.
Speaking to journalists in Ekpoma, Eseigbe described the initiative as part of his commitment to sustainable grassroots development and giving back to society. He emphasized that access to reliable electricity remains fundamental to economic growth, improved security, and enhanced quality of life in both rural and semi-urban communities.
According to him, the electrification project will target underserved areas within Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben Local Government Areas of Edo State, with the goal of stimulating small businesses, supporting artisans, and creating an enabling environment for youth-driven enterprises.
“Electricity is not a luxury; it is a catalyst for development. When communities are illuminated, businesses thrive, security improves, and opportunities expand,” he stated.
Beyond the proposed lighting initiative, Eseigbe highlighted several interventions he has facilitated across the federal constituency. These include potable water projects, healthcare outreach drives, women empowerment programmes, and youth development initiatives focused on skills acquisition and economic inclusion.
Community stakeholders have acknowledged the impact of these interventions, noting that continued investments in infrastructure and human capital development are critical to addressing socio-economic challenges within the constituency.
Eseigbe reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive and people-centered representation, stressing that meaningful leadership must translate into measurable improvements in the daily lives of constituents.
