The Edo State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Sir Dr. Lucky Eseigbe (Esq.), has congratulated Governor Monday Okpebholo following his recognition as Best Governor of the Year (Education) by New Telegraph Newspaper.
In a statement released on Friday, the commissioner described the award as a strong endorsement of the governor’s leadership and commitment to advancing the education sector in Edo State.
Eseigbe said the recognition reflects the administration’s sustained investment in educational infrastructure, improved learning standards, and policies aimed at expanding access to quality education across the state. He noted that the governor’s focus on human capital development has positioned education as a central pillar of the state’s growth strategy.
According to him, the award is not only a personal achievement for the governor but also a validation of the collective efforts of stakeholders working to strengthen the state’s public institutions.
He further stated that the administration’s broader development agenda—spanning infrastructure renewal, healthcare improvements, and youth-focused initiatives—has contributed to a governance model that prioritizes measurable impact and inclusiveness.
Eseigbe expressed optimism that the recognition would serve as encouragement for the government to sustain its reform-driven approach. He wished the governor continued success in delivering policies aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being of residents.
The New Telegraph Award for Best Governor of the Year (Education) is presented annually to public office holders adjudged to have made significant contributions to educational development and policy innovation within their jurisdictions.
