The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Edo State, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has issued a resounding call for women across Nigeria to take the lead in grassroots political mobilisation, describing their active participation as essential to democratic strength, national stability, and sustainable development.

Mrs. Anani made the call in Abuja during the inauguration and award ceremony of the APC Dynamic Women for President Tinubu 2027, where she received an Award of Excellence on behalf of Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo. The award recognised the administration’s commitment to advancing inclusive governance and implementing policies that directly impact women and vulnerable groups across the state.

Addressing an audience of party stakeholders, elected officials, ministers, and women leaders from across the country, she emphasised that meaningful development cannot be achieved without deliberate female inclusion at all levels of governance. She highlighted the Governor’s SHINE Agenda as a forward-looking policy framework that has expanded access to healthcare, strengthened agricultural participation, enhanced social welfare systems, promoted skills acquisition, and supported women-led enterprises.

According to her, women-owned businesses, market traders, petty entrepreneurs, and young innovators are increasingly benefiting from structured empowerment initiatives designed to improve livelihoods and stimulate local economies. She described the recognition as an affirmation of Edo State’s commitment to embedding gender-responsive policies within its governance structure.

“There is inclusion in every aspect of government,” she said. “Women-owned businesses are receiving support. Market women, petty traders, and young entrepreneurs are being empowered. We are honoured by this award and grateful for the recognition.”

Mrs. Anani further underscored the strategic importance of women in Nigeria’s electoral process, noting that they constitute a significant voting population and serve as key mobilisers within communities. As political engagement gradually builds toward the 2027 general elections, she encouraged women to intensify outreach efforts, strengthen community networks, and sustain issue-driven advocacy that reflects the aspirations of families and grassroots communities.

“Women are the bedrock of society,” she stated. “In elections, they form the majority of participants. As we approach 2027, we will knock on every door, march on every street, and engage every community. Our hope is renewed, and we remain committed to this path.”

In her remarks, Ambassador Dorcas Peter Azi, National Coordinator of the APC Dynamic Women for Tinubu 2027, charged newly inaugurated officials to remain proactive and disciplined in mobilising support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the next electoral cycle. She emphasised that organised grassroots leadership would be instrumental in strengthening democratic participation and advancing national development priorities.

The APC Dynamic Women for President Tinubu 2027, originally formed in 2022, used the occasion to unveil a renewed leadership structure aimed at repositioning and reinforcing its nationwide mobilisation framework. Operating within the broader platform of the All Progressives Congress, the group focuses on galvanising women’s involvement in civic engagement, voter education, and political advocacy.

The event attracted prominent stakeholders and women leaders from across Nigeria, reflecting growing recognition of the expanding role of women in governance and party politics. As the nation gradually turns its attention toward 2027, the renewed emphasis on women-led grassroots mobilisation signals a broader democratic commitment—one that recognises women not merely as participants in the political process, but as architects of Nigeria’s evolving democratic future.
