Edo State Extends Deadline for Annual PAYE Tax Returns to February 14, 2026

The Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) has announced an extension of the deadline for filing Annual Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax returns by employers, shifting the date from the statutory January 31 to February 14, 2026.

The extension, according to the agency, is aimed at giving employers additional time to comply with new provisions introduced under recent tax legislation. The move is expected to ease the transition for organisations adjusting to regulatory changes under the Nigerian Tax Administration Act (NTAA), 2025.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the EIRS advised employers to continue submitting their annual PAYE returns through its official online portal at https://paye.eirs.gov.ng. The agency emphasized that all submissions must be properly signed and stamped by the employer or an accredited tax agent.

The tax authority further noted that filings must fully comply with Section 33 of the NTAA, 2025, warning that penalties for non-compliance remain in force. Employers who fail to file within the extended deadline will be subject to sanctions as prescribed under Sections 127(a), 127(b), 101(a), and 101(b) of the Act.

EIRS reiterated its commitment to enforcing tax laws while supporting voluntary compliance among employers operating in the state.

For additional information or assistance, employers were encouraged to contact the Service through its dedicated helplines on 0816 809 1243 or 0813 097 0146.

The announcement was signed by Courage Eboigbe, ANIPR, MNIM, ACTI, Head of Corporate Communications, Edo State Internal Revenue Service, and dated February 6, 2026.
