Esan Central Constituency witnessed an atmosphere of celebration, gratitude, and renewed confidence in representative governance as the Member representing the constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Sunday Fada Eigbiremonlen, embarked on a wide-ranging commissioning of completed projects spanning education, electrification, and market infrastructure across several communities.
The commissioning exercise commenced at Usenu Primary School, where newly constructed classroom blocks were unveiled in the presence of party leaders, education stakeholders, community elders, and residents. The event was chaired by the Edo Central Senatorial Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Cecil Esekhiagbe (Rtd.), with notable leaders in attendance including the APC leader in Esan Central, Prince Williams Shaka Momodu; Chairman of APC in Esan Central Local Government, Comrade Rollins Ekeoba (Oskede); Peter Odibo; Theophilus Osegba; Chief Odalo, and other prominent stakeholders.
In his opening remarks, Gen. Esekhiagbe described the event as more than a routine commissioning, stating that it clearly represented the dividends of democracy in action. He noted that while the constituency had been represented by several legislators in the past, the quality and spread of projects delivered by Hon. Eigbiremonlen were exceptional and worthy of commendation. He added that the Edo State Governor’s commitment to good governance had found practical expression through legislators who shared the same vision, praying for divine strength, wisdom, and greater elevation for the Honourable Member.
Speaking on behalf of the pupils, Ijie Eguare expressed heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Eigbiremonlen for facilitating the construction of the classroom blocks, noting that the improved learning environment would positively impact academic performance. The Headmistress, Mrs. Agadagodo Felicia Ilobekemen, welcomed dignitaries and thanked party leaders and government officials for their continued support for education in the community.
Representing the Usenu community, Mr. Ikhide Jude praised Hon. Eigbiremonlen for his visible developmental strides, particularly the provision of solar streetlights, describing him as the first representative to bring such intervention to the community. He further thanked the Honourable Member for constructing three classroom blocks and reaffirmed the community’s total support for him, while appealing for additional projects including roads, water supply, and more school facilities. Responding, Hon. Sunday Fada Eigbiremonlen assured the community that within one month, three toilet facilities and an underground water system would be provided for the school, adding that more projects were already underway. He thanked the community for their unwavering support during and after the elections and called for sustained support for the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, whom he described as a focused and development-driven leader.
The commissioning train later moved to Idunwele Primary School, Ewu, where a fully completed block of six classrooms with staff offices was officially commissioned. Present at the event were several political and community leaders including Hon. Clement Inegbe, Hon. Elvis Osifo, Hon. Wilfred Oibo, Ehiamen Edaighe, Hon. Peter Obo, Hon. Matthew, Micheal Akhimen, and others. Speaking on behalf of the Edo Central senatorial leadership, Prince Williams Shaka Momodu stated that Hon. Eigbiremonlen had brought the House of Assembly directly to the grassroots, noting that it had been a long time since such impactful projects were executed by a legislator at that level. He commended the people of Ewu for their support and officially commissioned the project on behalf of Gen. Cecil Esekhiagbe.
The highlight of the event was a confident and emotionally stirring speech delivered by Haruna Christabel, a Primary Six pupil of Idunwele Primary School, who expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the pupils for the six new classrooms. She thanked Hon. Eigbiremonlen for turning their dreams into reality and assured that the pupils would make responsible use of the facilities and study hard to make all stakeholders proud.
In her letter of appreciation, the Head Teacher, Mrs. Inegbe Christiana, described the newly commissioned classrooms as a safe and conducive learning environment that would enable pupils to reach their full potential. She expressed deep appreciation to Hon. Sunday Fada Eigbiremonlen for his generosity and to the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for prioritizing education across the state, offering prayers for continued wisdom and elevation for the Honourable Member.
Speaking on behalf of the Ewu community, Leader Ehimen Moses thanked Hon. Eigbiremonlen for the project and appealed for more teachers and additional developmental projects. In response, the Honourable Member thanked the people of Ewu Ward 8 for their continued support, promising that all their requests would be treated with urgency and assuring them of more projects in the near future. He also commended teachers for their dedication to shaping the future of the children.
At Idinegbon Market Square, Eidenu-Irrua, the commissioning of open stalls and lock-up stores was greeted with songs, dance, and jubilation from traders and market women who warmly received Hon. Eigbiremonlen and his entourage. In his remarks, Barrister Anslem Ojezua praised the Honourable Member for delivering impactful projects as a first-term legislator, while Prince Williams Shaka Momodu, representing Gen. Cecil Esekhiagbe, conveyed goodwill messages from the senatorial leader and officially commissioned the market project. Hon. Kelvin Iyere and other leaders thanked Hon. Eigbiremonlen for the market project and appealed for additional interventions including a community town hall, road linking Eko-Ewu, water supply, and electricity. Responding, Hon. Eigbiremonlen assured the people that their requests were well noted, stating that the road project had already been captured in the state budget and reaffirming the commitment of the Edo State Government to sustained development.
The commissioning exercise continued at Ikekato Secondary School in Udowo Community, where a block of three classrooms with a furnished staff office was unveiled. Barrister Anslem Ojezua commended Hon. Eigbiremonlen for his consistent investment in education. A student representative delivered a heartfelt address, describing the project as a gift of hope and opportunity that would inspire students to aim higher and work harder. The Principal of the school, Mr. Odion E.E., expressed gratitude on behalf of staff and students, praying for continued blessings and success for the Honourable Member.
The people of Udowo Community also celebrated the commissioning of an electricity extension project with the installation of 120 electricity poles, praising Hon. Eigbiremonlen for improving power supply and enhancing socio-economic activities in the area.
The final commissioning of the day took place at Afuda Primary School, Uwessan, where staff quarters were officially opened. Speaking on behalf of Afuda Ward 2, Mr. Christopher Abuya described the project as a true dividend of democracy and assured Hon. Eigbiremonlen of the community’s full support in any future political endeavour. The Headmaster, Mr. Akasim Rockson, thanked the Honourable Member for the completed project while appealing for the posting of more teachers to the school. In his response, Hon. Sunday Fada Eigbiremonlen thanked the community for their continued support, assured them of more projects, and once again acknowledged the support of the Edo State Governor, noting that development was steadily advancing across Esanland.
From education to electrification and economic empowerment, the commissioning exercise stood as a clear demonstration of purposeful representation, reinforcing Hon. Sunday Fada Eigbiremonlen’s commitment to grassroots development and responsive governance, while leaving communities across Esan Central with renewed confidence in the dividends of democracy.
