Benin City, January 30, 2026 — Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved a minor reshuffle of the State Executive Council as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance, improve service delivery, and enhance administrative efficiency across the state.
The development was formally announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., who said the adjustments were strategic and aimed at reinforcing coordination and policy implementation within the state’s governance framework.
According to the statement, Barrister Vincent Osas Uwadiae, who previously served as Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Lands and Housing as Commissioner. In a related move, Honourable Yakubu Oshiorenua Musa, until now Commissioner for Lands and Housing, has been appointed as Chief of Staff to the Governor.
Furthermore, the Governor has nominated Honourable Gani Audu, former Chief of Staff, to take over as Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources, subject to confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly.
The SSG noted that the reshuffle, which takes effect from January 30, 2026, reflects the Governor’s confidence in the capacity and experience of the affected officials to deliver more effectively in their new roles.
Governor Okpebholo, through the statement, expressed optimism that the realignment would further enhance the efficiency of government operations and accelerate the implementation of key policies and programmes in Edo State.
