Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a modern, prosperous Edo State through sustained infrastructural development, declaring that the state is steadily evolving into “the Edo of our dreams.”

The governor made this assertion after an extensive inspection tour of ongoing road and drainage projects across communities in Edo South Senatorial District, where he expressed satisfaction with the pace, quality, and scope of work being executed by contractors.

Speaking to journalists at the end of the tour, Governor Okpebholo said his government’s development drive is anchored on good governance, improved connectivity, and economic growth, noting that residents are already beginning to feel the dividends of democracy.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele, the inspection covered key infrastructure projects in Evbhukhu, Amagba, Ohoghobi, Oghehe, Old Sapele Road, Sapele Road Bypass, Uhie Road, Okhabere, Ugbiyoko, Oghede Upper Ekenhuan Road, and the flyover bridge at Adesuwa Junction, among others. The governor was accompanied on the tour by the Special Adviser on Projects Implementation and Monitoring, Engr. Phoebe Williams-Bello.

Governor Okpebholo singled out Sapele Road and its adjoining corridors for special commendation, describing the transformation in the area as clear evidence of his administration’s resolve to deliver tangible results.

“We have gone round inspecting so many projects today, and the jobs are in progress. I am very impressed with what I have seen so far, especially at Sapele Road. If you visit that axis, you will know that this administration has truly worked there,” the governor said.

He explained that his government has adopted a strategy of unannounced inspection visits to project sites as a way of enforcing accountability, ensuring adherence to approved designs, and maintaining strict delivery timelines.

The governor also noted significant improvement at Charismatic Renewal Road compared to his previous visit, expressing satisfaction with the renewed pace of work.

“Looking at Charismatic Renewal Road today, work has greatly improved compared to the last time we came. I am so impressed,” he stated.

Governor Okpebholo further linked the state’s infrastructural push to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the policy direction of the Federal Government is already yielding visible benefits in Edo State.

“The renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is manifesting here in Edo State, and we are building on it to give Edo people a better and improved life. We have a new Edo — the Edo of our dreams,” he said.

Reiterating his campaign pledge to turn Edo State into a construction hub, the governor said his administration remains focused on opening up communities, improving mobility, stimulating economic activities, and delivering practical development directly to the people.

Observers say the ongoing projects across the three senatorial districts signal a governance approach that prioritizes infrastructure as a catalyst for inclusive growth and long-term economic stability in Edo State.
