Abuja — Senator Joseph Igiagbe Ikpea, representing Edo Central Senatorial District, has congratulated Rt. Hon. Victor Sabo Tiger Edoror on his appointment and formal inauguration as a Member of Nigeria’s Federal Character Commission (FCC), describing the development as a positive affirmation of competence, service, and national inclusion.
In a statement released on Friday, the Senator hailed Edoror’s elevation as a reflection of his long-standing commitment to public service and his demonstrated capacity for leadership. According to Ikpea, Edoror’s professional background and understanding of Nigeria’s diversity position him well to contribute meaningfully to the constitutional mandate of the Commission.
Senator Ikpea also acknowledged the role of the Edo State Government in the process, commending the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for what he described as a deliberate and strategic nomination that underscores confidence in capable representation from Edo Central Senatorial District. He further expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the appointment, noting that the decision aligns with the administration’s broader emphasis on fairness, balance, and national cohesion.
The Senator emphasized that the Federal Character Commission remains a critical institution in Nigeria’s governance framework, charged with promoting equitable representation of states and ethnic groups within federal ministries, departments, and agencies, as well as monitoring compliance with the federal character principle enshrined in the Constitution.
According to Ikpea, Edoror’s appointment comes at a period when strengthened institutional leadership is essential to fostering public confidence and reinforcing national unity.
