Benin City, Wednesday, January 21, 2026 —
Dr. Ernest Iyere Ahamioje, Edo State House of Assembly hopeful for Esan South East Constituency, has described the Edo State Judiciary as a critical pillar in the state’s democratic development, following a courtesy visit to the Edo State Judiciary Building.
During the visit, Dr. Ahamioje paid homage to his great uncle, Justice Emmanuel Okey Ahamioje, a respected jurist widely acknowledged for his integrity, depth of legal scholarship, and lifelong commitment to justice and public service.
Justice Ahamioje graciously conducted Dr. Ahamioje around his chambers, offering insight into the workings of the judiciary and ongoing institutional improvements. The interaction provided a rare opportunity for intergenerational reflection on service, duty, and the evolving role of the judiciary in safeguarding democracy and the rule of law.
Speaking after the visit, Dr. Ahamioje expressed deep admiration for the visible progress within the Edo State judicial system, noting that the reforms underway reflect a deliberate effort to strengthen judicial independence, professionalism, and efficiency.
“What stood out for me today is the enduring value of service driven by passion and integrity,” Dr. Ahamioje stated. “My great uncle’s career exemplifies how commitment to justice leaves a lasting impact on institutions and society. Justice for all must remain the guiding principle of governance.”
Dr. Ahamioje also commended the Edo State Governor for prioritizing judicial freedom, institutional autonomy, and the welfare of judicial officers—key elements necessary for a credible and effective justice system. He noted that sustained executive support for the judiciary enhances public confidence, promotes accountability, and reinforces democratic governance.
According to him, a strong and independent judiciary is indispensable to social stability, economic growth, and the protection of citizens’ rights, adding that political leadership must continue to uphold the separation of powers while investing in judicial capacity and welfare.
Dr. Ahamioje, known for his detribalized outlook and inclusive leadership philosophy, reaffirmed his belief that collaboration among the arms of government—anchored on mutual respect and constitutional responsibility—is essential for Edo State’s continued progress.
He concluded the visit feeling inspired, grateful, and optimistic about the future of the Edo State Judiciary, expressing hope that ongoing reforms will further strengthen justice delivery and reinforce the rule of law for generations to come.
