I was invited to join the Senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District on his appreciation tour of all the five local governments in the district as part of his activities to mark his 100 days in office. The invitation came as a surprise to me for some reasons.

First and foremost, it was unprecedented that a Senator will be going round to appreciate his constituents after just 100 days in office. I have been around and I can tell you that it has never happened.
Secondly, Senator Joe Ikpea just got elected in a bye- election. I am very much aware from my experience as a former legislative aide in the National Assembly, that he does not have any budget or envelope to access. In fact, he can only have anything from the end of 2026.
The delays by INEC to conduct the bye-election and also his swearing in, cost him the opportunity to have any input into the budget.

Inspite of these, Senator Joseph Ikpea decided to mark his 100 days in office with empowerment programs and appreciation tours to his people with a lot of goodies.

Joining his entourage afforded me the opportunity to see the renewed hope he brought to the people of Edo Central. There was genuine joy among the people as he gave out food items and cash to them in this hard month of January. The party leaders and constituents declared their support for his return to the red chambers in 2027. If a senator who has no budget could do these in 100 days, one can only imagine what good tidings will come to the district when he actually takes off.

The Senator took out time to inspect some ongoing Federal projects in his district. He commended the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo for collaborating with the Federal Government to tackle the once dilapidated federal roads. He thanked President Bola Tinubu for the love he has been showing to Edo state promising to team up with the governor to ensure that Edo State delivers maximumly for the president come 2027..

The Senator was accompanied by the APC State Vice Chairman ( Central) Hon. Pedro Esangbedo and some party leaders supporters..

From Ubiaja to Uromi, Irrua to Ekpoma and Igueben, the resolution of the people is loud and clear ! “ There will be no vacancy in the Edo Central Senatorial seat come 2027”
