Ned Nwoko Challenges Credibility of Regina Daniels’ Drug Test, Cites Court-Ordered Therapy

Senator Ned Nwoko has questioned the credibility of a recent negative drug test result presented by his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels, describing it as evidence of temporary abstinence rather than sustained recovery.
In a statement issued via his official X (formerly Twitter) account by his communications team, Nwoko argued that genuine recovery requires long-term commitment, accountability, and professional support, not isolated test results or public declarations.
According to the statement, the negative test does not invalidate earlier medical assessments allegedly conducted by two independent and reputable facilities in Nigeria and South Africa, which reportedly indicated the presence of substances including cocaine and marijuana.
“Presenting a later negative result as proof that no prior use occurred is misleading and disingenuous. At best, it reflects abstinence over a period of time,” the statement read. “It does not invalidate earlier medical reports, nor does it negate what necessitated intervention in the first place.”
Nwoko’s team further questioned the circumstances under which the recent test was conducted, contrasting it with what they described as professionally documented assessments that, they say, will be presented and defended in court. The statement added that the centres involved are expected to be subpoenaed to testify to their findings.
The senator also maintained that he initially sought to address the issue privately, claiming that Daniels declined professional help at the time. He stressed that recovery should not be treated as a performative exercise driven by public opinion.
“Temporary abstinence, whether for weeks or months, does not address the underlying issues that brought this situation to where it is today. Healing is not episodic, and accountability is not performative,” the statement added.
Nwoko further referenced a court judgment that granted him custody of the couple’s children, noting that the ruling dismissed previously filed human rights abuse claims and directed Daniels to undergo supervised therapy with evidence of compliance.
The matter remains subject to ongoing legal proceedings, with both parties yet to fully address the court’s directives publicly.
