The Army Chief emphasized that discipline remains the bedrock of military effectiveness, stressing that troops must continue to conduct themselves in line with established rules of engagement and respect for civil authority while carrying out operations.

He commended the 6 Division for its sustained efforts in protecting vital national assets, particularly in the Niger Delta region, and urged personnel to remain resolute in the face of evolving security challenges.

Lt.-Gen. Shaibu also reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of officers and soldiers, pledging enhanced support aimed at improving their operational efficiency and overall well-being. According to him, adequate welfare, training and logistics support are critical to boosting morale and ensuring mission success.

“The Nigerian Army leadership remains fully committed to providing the necessary support to enable troops perform their constitutional roles effectively,” the COAS was quoted as saying.

During the visit, Lt.-Gen. Shaibu interacted with commanders and troops, receiving briefings on ongoing operations and the prevailing security situation within the division’s Area of Responsibility. He expressed confidence in the capacity of the 6 Division to continue delivering on its mandate and maintaining stability in the region.

The visit forms part of the COAS’ ongoing operational engagements aimed at assessing troops’ readiness, strengthening command oversight, and reinforcing the Nigerian Army’s resolve to protect lives, property and critical national infrastructure across the country.
