Nigeria produced a dominant display to secure a convincing 4–0 victory over Mozambique, sealing their place in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in emphatic fashion.
The Super Eagles asserted their authority early in the contest and were rewarded in the 20th minute when Ademola Lookman opened the scoring with a composed finish, setting the tone for a one-sided encounter. Just five minutes later, Victor Osimhen doubled Nigeria’s advantage, capitalising on sustained pressure and incisive attacking play.
Nigeria carried their momentum into the second half, with Osimhen once again proving decisive. The striker struck in the 47th minute to make it 3–0, effectively putting the contest beyond Mozambique’s reach and underlining his importance to the Nigerian attack.
Mozambique struggled to contain Nigeria’s pace and movement, as the Super Eagles continued to control possession and dictate the tempo. The rout was completed in the 75th minute when A. Adams added a fourth goal, capping off a clinical and disciplined team performance.
At the other end of the pitch, Nigeria’s defence remained solid and well-organised, restricting Mozambique to limited chances and ensuring a comfortable clean sheet.
The comprehensive victory highlights Nigeria’s growing confidence and tactical balance as the tournament progresses. With goals spread across the team and key players hitting top form, the Super Eagles advance to the quarter-finals as one of the standout contenders for the AFCON 2025 title.
