2.5MW Mini Grid Independent Power Plant for Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital Flag Off

Based on the high cost of the energy report we received from the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, which naturally translates to high cost of health care in the renowned hospital, Edo state government through the ministry of mining and energy flag off 24hrs independent mini grid power plant to serve the hospital and some nearby communities in Esan san central local government.
Speaking at the event, the commissioner for mining and energy appreciated the Governor for always putting Edo people first.
“This is a dream come through for me because I came from this local government and I know how much the hospital spent monthly on energy.
“This is the 6th mini grid power plant the Governor has established to reduce the cost of healthcare, first was the military hospital airport road Benin, Aduwawa community, Eyaen community, Ebhokimi community, now ISTH in Irrua, next is Edo North.
“To make it more inclusive, the governor set up a renewable energy committee to also target private hospitals in the state which will commence in August.
“We just concluded discussion with the private hospital association and we are ready to start immediately after electricity audit at the various hospitals.
“We are also targeting private small and medium businesses, such as hotels, barbing saloons, churches, restaurants, bars, printing press and others.
“This program is to support and provide ease of doing business to edo people and reduce their cost of energy and give them 24hrs light for sustainable growth and productivity.”
